If you have not enrolled in the upcoming Velocity University program (October 26, 27 & 28th, Sebastian, FL) – please continue reading!  Continuing the builder-educational theme of the Velocity Builder’s Symposium held last year in Sherman, Texas – the Velocity University program includes all of the elements of the inaugural seminar program, transforming them into a larger scale with more expert speakers; more manufacturers representatives; more displays; more opportunities for meeting and dining with fellow Velocity aircraft owners; and the introduction of a number of hands-on Velocity-builder workshops.

(see http://www.velocityuniversity.com/schedules.html)

The Velocity University program is truly the most important event of the year for Velocity builders.  Though Velocity builders have a number of great and useful resources to help guide them through the construction/assembly process – nothing beats seeing a good example of Velocity workmanship in person.  It does not matter what phase of construction you might be in at the moment – there is something to be learned by attending and participating in the Velocity University program!

Whether you are thinking of purchasing a Velocity kit and getting involved with your own Velocity building project – currently building a Velocity kit – or presently enjoying the speed, fun, and freedom of flying this remarkable aircraft called the Velocity – Velocity University offers topics of interest for everyone!  Track “A” features topics of interest to Velocity builders.  Track “B” offers information for those who are flying (or who are soon ready to fly) their Velocity aircraft.  Workshop topics cover everything from fundamentals of composites – to aircraft maintenance – to post-flight inspections.  Feel free to jump between tracks and workshops.  Select the classes and subjects of most interest to you!

Yes, it’s school.  The ‘school day’ is all education and no ‘fluff’.  Classes start at 9:00 am on Friday and Saturday; and 10:00 am on Sunday following a short General Assembly.  A 15-minute break is provided between classes.  Refreshments (drinks and such) are served throughout the day.  A gourmet box lunch is served at noon and is included with tuition.

Manufacturing representatives, each an expert in their respective field (and many of them speakers), will have products on display – conveniently located near the class rooms – and available during the entire day.

Evenings are for getting together, meals, and entertainment!  Beginning with the welcome Oktoberfest cookout on Thursday evening – evening hours bring the opportunity to socialize, meet new and old friends, and relax over enjoyable food and drink.  Don’t miss the grand dinner event on Saturday at Captain Hiram’s Restaurant on the riverfront.  Seating is limited.  Dinner tickets are on sale by calling Velocity, Inc. at 772-589-1860.  Included with tuition are the following meals: Octoberfest Cookout on Thursday evening; refreshments each day during classes; gourmet box lunches on Friday and Saturday; breakfast Sunday morning; gourmet sandwich buffet lunch on Sunday.

For those in need of a break – and for spouses not interested in attending classes – join Bonnie and Amy Swing for some local shopping, exploring, and fun!  Details are still in the works, however count on an expedition to one of the nearby shopping destinations (transportation is provided); and an ecology boat tour of the Sebastian River and historic Indian River Lagoon.  Tour the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum in downtown Sebastian – and perhaps come away with a piece of art, silver, or gold from the Atocha.  Golfers will enjoy the Sebastian Municipal Golf Course (located adjacent to the airport).  Sebastian Inlet and beautiful beaches are less than 10-minutes away.

Fly-In!  Classes and workshops are located on the Sebastian Airport (X26).  Special avgas discounts are given to Velocity owners who fly in.  There is ample parking and no tie-down fee at the Sebastian Airport Administration Building.  A special gift awaits the person who brings their Velocity in from the farthest distance!

Don’t wait to the last minute to decide … please!  This is your event!  Confirm your attendance sooner rather than later.  To do a good job of organizing, we need your commitment by Monday, October 8th.  Please contact Art Jones (Velocity) at 772-589-1860 or by Email at Art@velocityaircraft.com.  Please let us know the date of your arrival; the number in your party who will be attending the Velocity University program classes; the number in your party for the Saturday dinner; and the date you expect to return home.  When writing by Email, please include your contact information and telephone number.

Don’t be a candidate for Whatsamatta U.  Be sure to attend the Velocity University program – and return home with new knowledge in building techniques; a profound understanding and appreciation of ‘how to do things right’; increased safety awareness; and memories of a fun filled weekend!
